  • “Theodore Conrad Preservationist Award”  May, 2006  from the Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy: to Sam Pesin and The Friends of Liberty State Park "in recognition of their grassroots advocacy for one of the world’s greatest urban parks and for their support of historic preservation and open space throughout the region".
  • “The Circle of Honor” are the engraved names on the concrete stones surrounding Jersey City’s  9/11 Memorial Fountain at Journal Square.

At the Jersey City ceremony on Sept. 11, 2005, the names of Morris Pesin (the “father” of Liberty State Park, and his son Sam Pesin, due to their LSP leadership, were among the 26 engraved names, of “prominent civic officials, business, and community leaders who have improved the lives of Jersey City residents”.
