FORM
LETTER: BUSINESS OUTREACH TO BEAUTIFY AND IMPROVE LSP
Dear
Sir/Madam,
I am proud
to be employed by a company that actively supports and encourages employee
involvement in community organizations. One organization that I have been
involved in for the past several years is The Friends of Liberty State Park.
This is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to
preserve, protect, conserve, and promote Liberty State Park (LSP). The park is
located on the Jersey City waterfront, in close proximity to Lady Liberty and
Ellis Island.
Over 5 million visitors a year
from around New Jersey and our nation visit this 600 acre green open space.
People often come to the park to refresh their spirits and escape the urban
congestion and the pressures of life. This park, which opened in 1976 as
New Jersey’s Bicentennial gift to America, has often been referred to as an
"Urban Oasis".
Even though LSP is part of the New
Jersey State Park system, funding for the beautification and
improvement of the Park is
extremely limited and private sector help is truly necessary for the
continuing enhancement of LSP as a great park for people of this and future
generations to enjoy.
The Friends of LSP is asking for
assistance in expanding park beautification and improvement efforts.
Its primary program is its Volunteer Garden Program which involves
volunteer workers year-round in creating and maintaining attractive garden beds
throughout Liberty State Park. Funds are needed to enable The Friends of LSP to implement
its conservation and beautification mission by purchasing flowers and shrubs for
the Volunteer Garden Program and also for its goal of planting trees for shade
and beauty.
Among its initiatives, to meet a
constant need, is to raise money to build group picnic pavilions in “Freedom
Field”. The Friends, an “Officially Recognized Friends Organization” (ORFO)
of the Division of Parks and Forestry of the NJ Department of Environmental
Protection, is looking to the private sector to help provide those who visit
this special public resource with an enhanced park experience.
Companies can contribute to the ongoing good
works of The Friends of LSP in many ways, including:
I welcome the opportunity to meet
or speak with you or a designated person in the company to further discuss this
important initiative. Please call or e-mail me at your earliest
convenience.
Regards,
